1. Learn. Get Away. Develop.

You are the CEO of your own company, and it's been a great run so far. The products you have created are top-notch, and everyone loves them!

You're doing well at work, but there is one thing that bothers you during the day - your appearance.

You don't feel as confident in yourself when customers see how tired or stressed out you might be on any given day.

As an entrepreneur who doesn't always have time to get their hair done or spend hours researching makeup tutorials online, this can be really frustrating for you.

Being the boss of your business can be stressful. You don't have a boss looking over your shoulder telling you what to do and how to act.

In most cases, the stress is self-imposed because it's only you who knows when things are going wrong or if there are any problems that need fixing with your company.


Three things to keep in mind:

It's not always necessary to have a solution every time something goes wrong with your company, but you should at least try and identify the problem so that you can get it resolved as soon as possible.

1. Keep learning: never stop pushing yourself to learn more about your business by reading books, listening to podcasts or online courses.

2. Get away from it all: Take some time off when you're feeling overwhelmed. Even if it's only for 24 hours.

Take care of yourself by listening to your body's needs and do what makes you feel better.


3. Develop a routine: Establish a set of routines that work for your lifestyle to help maintain balance in the day-to-day activities.

This will provide stability and can be critical when coping with challenges because it reminds you that there are certain times where nothing should happen outside of this schedule.


2. Identify your strengths and weaknesses

Identifying what you're already good at or enjoy doing will allow you to focus more on those things when facing difficult situations.

Remembering these long-term goals when faced with challenges can remind you why it is worth spending time working towards them.

Clearly, you've heard this advice one too many times. But, it's worth repeating because taking care of yourself is so important and has a huge impact on how you feel.

Do you ever feel like you are always saying yes to people, but never taking time for yourself?

You might be neglecting your needs. So take a break and tune in to yourself.

The first step to setting boundaries for your work time and personal time is acknowledging that there needs to be some separation between the two.

You can't just keep switching back and forth seamlessly all day long without any consequences.

  • Schedule your day so that there is a time of the day for work and then another designated time to take care of yourself. 

This might mean taking an hour or two in the morning, midday break, or early evening.

It might be as simple as scheduling out what you're going to do during these times before starting your workday.

  • Eat healthy meals so you have the energy to get through your day. Junk foods have a tendency to wear you down and make it harder for you to focus on the task at hand.
  • Take your bedtime seriously, try to sleep for a maximum of eight hours a night. getting enough sleep is important for your physical and mental health.


4. Stay Motivated

In entrepreneurship, you've got to be motivated to get the job done. Sometimes we can feel overwhelmed by stress and challenges that may seem too big or scary, but we shouldn't let that stop us!

Three ways to stay motivated are:

• Set goals that are both realistic and achievable and see how you can reach them

• Reframe your thoughts and focus on what you have accomplished rather than what has gone wrong or how many more things there are to do

• Tackle a task that is not as difficult first, then move onto the hard tasks (this helps you feel successful)

• Keep a positive attitude - don't let yourself get down about how tough the situation is, because it will only make you feel worse!


5. Ask for help when you need it! 

One of the coping strategies for stress is allowing others to assist you in your business.  

You can delegate tasks or find out if someone else is available for work that needs to be done.

If the issue does not require an outside source of help, sometimes just talking and getting feedback from others helps tremendously.

I remember sitting in my office, feeling overwhelmed.

Everything seemed to be calling for me: emails, meetings, website design drafts... the list went on and on.

I looked at the clock- it was already 4 pm- and I knew that if I didn't get anything done this evening, tomorrow morning would be worse than today.

Then an idea popped into my head: what if there were some way to just do all of these tasks by myself? What would that look like?

This is when it hit me; while asking for help isn't always easy (especially initially), once you've found someone who can fill a gap in your skillset or process flow - they will make everything easier!

So with renewed confidence, I got my tasks done and didn't feel overwhelmed at all.

  • Find someone to talk about your situation out loud - this may not work for everyone, but sometimes just talking helps. Needless to say, be careful who you speak with as they will know all the details that are happening in your business

Find mentor or someone else who can give you advice on how to improve your business skills or provide moral support when things are tough (e.g., family members, friends)

This kind of rides on the last point of finding support networks. The advice can be about how to improve your business skills, or it could just be moral support when things are tough (e.g., family members, friends).

When I was starting out in my business, I had a mentor who helped me get over some really tough times. She shared her wisdom with me and guided me to success. My mentor, who is incredibly knowledgeable in this area, could definitely tell us what would work best. It's always good to get another opinion when you're trying something new or not sure if it will turn out okay!

The mentor doesn't have to specifically offer the coping strategies for stress that you're looking for -- but they should at least provide some guidance on what other types of coping.

Here's how to find mentors:

 You can find mentors by asking for advice from successful entrepreneurs who are in similar businesses.

You could also ask your friends, family members or other people you know and admire. Don't be discouraged if someone is unavailable to help; the important thing is that they might be able to provide guidance on what coping strategies would work best
