Whenever I start feeling really stressed out or sad about something that happened in my day, I try and read some inspirational quotes to remind me how great it is to be alive."

I'm not saying that if you're stressed out and anxious all the time, you should just somehow tough it out. What I am saying is that there are a number of good ways to manage how you feel in the moment.

I'm always looking for new quotes to read. It's can be a great way to remind yourself how much better life is than you give it credit for.

Creating A Stressless Life

How to stress less can become more of a goal just as we have for how to lose weight, how to be more productive or how to eat healthier.

Stress is a factor in many of our lives and we don't always know how it may have impacted us on the inside or out.

I know what it's like to feel overwhelmed.

I know what it's like to have your head spinning and not be able to find an answer. 

I know how the stress of being a female entrepreneur can make you want to give up, but instead, you need to keep going. 

I've written this blog post as a guide for making life easier on yourself and feeling less stressed because we all deserve that! 

As a fellow entrepreneur, I am always looking for ways that will help me take time off from work without breaking my back or taking away from my family.

Stressless living means finding ways to incorporate more of what you love into your life. Whether that's cooking, running, reading a book for fun or anything else - the idea is to make time for activities and hobbies that are not related to work (though they can be) so you feel refreshed when it comes back around again.


How female entrepreneurs can create a stress-less life

As a female entrepreneur, you can create a stress-less life with some simple changes.

-Create a schedule that prevents overworking and allows for self-care. This includes healthy meals, time to exercise, getting enough sleep at night, dates, or other social engagements outside of work hours.

-Delegate tasks if you’re feeling overwhelmed by them – this is particularly helpful for those of you with a small team.

-Take breaks when needed to refresh your mind, but also from time to time, take walks and do things that bring joy like reading or going for coffee with friends.

-Create an environment where it’s ok to say “no,” which will allow you the opportunity to focus.

What are some of the causes and effects of stress?

The effect of stress on the human body is a complex issue. However, the following are some of the causes and effects that have been studied:

  • Stress affects how we think, making it difficult to focus on anything but the stressor. This mental distraction often leads to decreased performance in tasks at hand or for those yet to be completed
  • Increased heart rate, blood pressure, and breathing
  • Higher risk of heart disease
  • Increased blood sugar levels (which can lead to diabetes)
  • Burnout is a form of mental exhaustion that often leads to depression. Burnout is caused by prolonged stress without periods of recovery or restorative activities such as socializing with supportive people, exercising, spending time in nature, or doing meaningful activities
  • Hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol are released in stressed individuals. This can lead to a number of side effects, including ulcers, weight gain, muscular pain, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
  • Stress also affects our immune system: the inflammatory response increases and the adaptive immune system is suppressed
  • Stress also plays a role in sleep. A person may have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep when they are stressed out.


How do we know if we're stressed out or not?

To know if you are stress out or not, ask yourself these questions:

  • Does it feel like you are not in control of your emotions?
  • Do you usually have a lot on your mind that’s affecting how you act or respond to things?
  • Are the pressure and anxiety taking over to the point where it's more than just stressful but painful and difficult to function?

The most important thing for a stressed-out individual to know is that stress isn't always bad.

In fact, there are many instances where it's necessary and even essential for us to feel some level of pressure to perform well or meet our goals. 

For example, when preparing for a project, we feel pressured to complete it on time.

And when we're interviewing for a new job, there is always that stress of meeting the expectations and requirements to be hired.

It's how you react or respond to these things that determine if they are good or bad for your health. For example, if you can manage your emotions well under pressure, you are less likely to experience the negative side effects of stress.


Tips on Managing Stressful Moments:

  • First, know that it's okay not to be OK all the time. There will always be days when we feel a little off or something is weighing on us and making our mood a little dark.
  • Second, eat well and exercise regularly to keep your endorphins high and help you sleep better at night.
  • Third, practise staying in the moment as much as possible so that you can enjoy what life brings you instead of dwelling on past mistakes or worrying about future failures.
  • Fourth, give yourself a break from work. The world will not end if you take a day or two off to play with your kids, watch a movie by yourself, or visit an old friend.
  • Fifth, find ways to unwind that suit each of your moods when things get tough and be sure not to feel guilty for practising self-care. We mustn't push ourselves too hard and end up burning out.
  • Sixth, take a break from social media when you feel like your anxiety is getting the best of you, or too much negativity is affecting your mood.
  • Seventh, practise self-compassion by holding yourself with love and care during tough times instead of beating yourself up for mistakes that might have happened in the past.
  • Eighth, find support networks or mentors who can encourage you and help push through tough times when necessary.
  • Ninth, be mindful about how much time you spend online to avoid any feelings of isolation that may lead to depression.
  • Tenth, make sure that what is in your life is right for the present moment instead of trying to live up to an image of how you think your life should be.


Other factors that contribute to stress

To achieve this goal, we need to identify what is causing us stress and take steps to counterbalance it within our home life or at work. Below are some of those factors that may be contributing:

1. Time management skills

Time management skills are essential for effectively managing our time to be more productive and less stressed. As an entrepreneur, we must practise self-care, maintain a work/life balance and prioritise our tasks to manage stress.

Lack of time management skills may result in procrastination, unreliable sources of information and unclear priorities, which leads some entrepreneurs to be more stressed out than they need to be. When this happens, it's important for us as women entrepreneurs to take a step back and reevaluate our priorities.


2. Prioritising tasks

It is also important to prioritise the more urgent things first and those that require less time commitment. For example: if we have an assignment due in two days, but there's another task coming up which only takes thirty minutes to complete,


3. Personal relationships in trouble

Personal relationships issues can create a lot of stress for entrepreneurs. It sucks to feel like you're not being heard or validated in your relationship. It can have a negative impact on work-life as well because we are so emotionally invested in what's going on at home.

If our personal relationships are feeling strained, we may take the time to reflect on how this is impacting our wellbeing and how we might fix the problem.


4. Lack of control over our lives, events and how they unfold

We're often in charge of everything, from how we spend our time managing the business and making all its decisions. So if something goes wrong or doesn't go according to plan, entrepreneurs may feel like nothing can be done about it because they have no control over what is going on. The feeling of not being in control can be infuriating, draining and frustrating.


5. Lack of balance between work life and personal life

We need to make sure we have time to recharge our batteries so when it comes back around for a new day, week or month, there's enough energy in the tank to power through everything that needs doing. It is important as an entrepreneur not to neglect our health and wellbeing to get the job done.


Tips on how to reduce stress in your

Knowing how to stress less is one of the most important skills for female entrepreneurs. There are many ways to achieve this goal, but here are a few that I have found work best.


1. Understand that stress is a part of life

Stress is a part of life, and if you don’t accept this, it won't be easy to live with. Stress is a response from the body that prepares us for action to avoid or overcome danger, such as running away from an attacker.

So it's best not to fight against stress but rather learn how to manage it better by learning how to recognise what causes it.


2. Take time to yourself every day.

It is often said that entrepreneurs tend to put themselves last when it comes to self-care. The problem is that when we don't take care of ourselves, how are we going to be our best for anything else?

I'm not sure if I can put into words just how important self-care has been in my journey as a female entrepreneur.

Finding time to step away from it all and recharge seems so challenging, but it is doable. Taking some me-time during the day is an easy way to keep the stress levels low.

It can be as simple as just sitting in silence for ten minutes and letting your mind go blank.

If you're having trouble finding time during the day, try scheduling it into a busy schedule or find some creative ways to sneak it in, such as stretching at your desk or taking short walks after lunch.


3. Set a schedule for your day and follow it

Oh, I know how much I struggled with this; I had to come to terms with the realisation that I couldn't do everything at once and be perfect. Not to mention how unproductive that was!

The first thing I did to help me manage my stress was setting a schedule for my day and following it.

It's easy to say you'll do certain things when the time is available, but then something will come up, and suddenly that task isn't getting done after all - so don't make any promises you're not sure about keeping.


4. Keep a list of the things that stress you out

keeping a list of things that stresses you out can make a big difference in how you feel. In addition, that list can be a great tool to help prioritize your day and not let the small, unimportant things get in the way of other tasks.

  • Anything from dishes piling up in the sink to unpaid bills. It's worth taking some time at night or during an otherwise slow weekday evening (or even on weekends) to take a look at what's on your list and how to handle it.
  • This can be the difference between feeling overwhelmed with work or hitting deadlines while still having time for leisure activities such as reading a book in bed rather than panicking about all of those dishes that are never going to wash.


5. Talk about your problems 

Talking about your problems with friends and family who will listen without judging you is a great way to decrease stress.

Doing this regularly can help take your mind off of the problems and allow you to relax for a while with someone who cares about what's happening in your life. Sometimes we feel like we might be a burden to our friends and family when we tell them what's going on with us, but that is not completely true. If they don't know, they cant offer support.

They are always more willing to support you when they know what's happening and how they can help make it better for you.

Talk with a trusted friend or family member about your problems and watch the stress decrease over time.


6. Don't compare yourself to others

There is no one right way to be an entrepreneur; find what works for you and your business.

Comparing your business with another business is a surefire way to get yourself worked up and burnt out.

Keep the big picture in mind - it's easy to fixate on what isn't perfect but remember that there are other aspects of your business you find exciting or fulfilling. Focus on those and let go of the rest


7. Find something outside of work that makes you happy daily.

What is that thing that excites you outside of work? Maybe you love to read or are passionate about your hobby like photography. Whatever it is that lights up your day when things have gone wrong and life has been hard - make time for it. And things don't have to go wrong; it's just you know that there's something that sparks joy for you aside from your regular tasks.


8. Take care of yourself - get enough sleep, eat well, and exercise 

The next tip on how to stress less as a female entrepreneur is to take care of yourself.

- get enough sleep. it's been proven that lack of sleep raises stress levels - cutting back on your hours will help you feel less stressed during the day

- eat well. being mindful of what we put into our bodies and how much activity we're taking part in contributes to how we feel

- exercise. Taking care of yourself by getting enough sleep, eating well, and exercising can help you manage your stress levels.

The next tip on reducing the amount of stress in your life as a female entrepreneur is to take breaks throughout the day when needed.


9. Identify and deal with your triggers

To understand how to stress less, it's good to know what your stress triggers are. It can help you figure out what situations or people are causing the stress and how to manage them.

Work:

It's hard not to feel stressed at work sometimes, but it is possible to handle that sort of pressure healthily while still doing your job well. One thing you can do is set a specific time period for work and then take a break. It's important to know how to handle your workload, find a balance between it all, and not let anything pile up.


Relationships:

Sometimes life can be really overwhelming when you start feeling like everyone is putting pressure on you to live up to their expectations of what the perfect partner or perfect daughter looks like. It's important to have a support system and people you can trust to feel like you're going through this alone.


Self:

It might be hard for some of us to admit that we need self-care, but in the end, it does more good than harm because when our mental health is not at its best, it can be difficult to think about anything else.


Food:

The first thing we need is a healthy body so that our mind feels well and happy as well. INext, it important to eat right because what you put into your body impacts how you feel day in and day out.


10. Set boundaries

Setting boundaries with those who are not supportive is important for you as a female entrepreneur. Whether it's not understanding what you do and always asking, "What are you doing with your life?" or being judgemental about how much time you spend on the business versus personal priorities. Setting boundaries could really make all of the difference in stress levels.

  • Setting boundaries can be done by communicating how much time you need to focus on your business and setting limits.
  • It can also be accomplished by not answering emails or phone calls from people trying to distract you when work is due and those that make negative comments about what you do for a living.
  • Some females entrepreneurs even go so far as to hide the fact that they are an entrepreneur from their family and friends- (not a huge fan of this idea). For many women, being an entrepreneur is a source of pride and happiness to share with family. Some entrepreneurs even turn that into their own personal brand by taking pictures or videos for social media purposes to show what they do for work. This removes the mystery from how you spend your time and can
  • You may also want to consider how social media can affect your business in either a positive or negative way - so you must keep this in mind as well.


11. Stay connected with other entrepreneurs

Staying connected with other female entrepreneurs is a great way to keep your stress levels low. Joining an online group or attending events where you can talk with like-minded people is a wonderful way to take time for yourself and get the support you need from others experiencing similar challenges.

We can all learn and support each other.


12. Be prepared for setbacks.

Plan for when things go wrong so you can keep going without getting too frustrated or overwhelmed.

Just before you say "God forbid!", Setbacks do not just come in the form of negative events. It can also be things like a slower season or not having as much time to work on your business because you are focused on other priorities at home.

When we feel like everything is going wrong and there's nothing we can do about it - that's when panic sets in and stress levels skyrocket. So planning ahead for these setbacks is key. Planning for setback can be as simple as saving up money so you have more to work on your business in the slow season or hiring a virtual assistant who can help when you're too busy.

The important thing is being prepared for these setbacks and how they may affect the way we feel about our life because it gives us time to address them before they snowball into something much larger.


We need to remember that these things are temporary and not the end of our world, so we need to stay positive to get through them as quickly and efficiently as possible without too much stress or anxiety setting in.


13. Take care of your mental health.

Take care of your mental health by spending time with friends and family, doing things that make you happy, and taking care of yourself.

As an entrepreneur, knowing how to stress less when it comes to your mental health is essential. When life feels overwhelming, it can be tempting to neglect your mental health in favour of focusing on the tasks at hand. This may work for a short period of time. Still, as stressful events continue piling up without relief, burnout is inevitable, and your physical and emotional well-being will start failing.

Keeping stress levels low starts with you being proactive. This means taking care of your mental health by spending time with friends and family, doing things that make you happy and taking care of yourself.


14. Know your worth

Roger that! Know your worth, and don't let anyone talk you down.

It's not always easy, but you can't let others' words affect how well you feel about yourself. ISo instead of listening to what people say and letting it paint a picture in your head that isn't true keep going with life as planned. You'll be doing better than if you'd listened to the person who was trying to pull you down in the first place.

You need to remember that a negative person will always find something wrong in what you do—even if it's not there. For example, imagine someone says your business idea could make $500 million, but they're only willing to give you advice for free. You'll never get anywhere with this type of person. So instead, they'll come up with an excuse as to why you are not competent enough or how they have a better idea.

The best thing to do is walk away from this person and focus on what's important: your business. Then, keep moving forward and put their negativity behind you because it will only make things harder for yourself in the long run.

As you get closer to your goals, they'll notice that they're not in a position of power anymore and will most likely start trying to be nice again. Know when the time is right for them to come back around!

15. Be kind to yourself

Sometimes I allow myself to reflect, and in those moments, I know for a fact that I don't give myself due credits and if that sounds like you too, I want to say that you are not alone.

  • Give yourself credit for all the hard work and effort so far. It's easy to get caught up in how much more there is to do, but take a step back and give some appreciation where it deserves - with YOU!
  • Be kinder to yourself by practising self-reflection, see what your effort is contributing to the big picture and how you are growing.
  • Stop being such a tough critic with yourself and instead practice self-love & acceptance by seeking out things to appreciate about you!
